Cranes


Introduction - Participants must be 18 years of age.
You must hold a Licence to Perform High Risk Work to operate any of the cranes or hoists defined below that are WorkCover unless you are working
under the direct supervision of a competent person (someone with a Licence to Perform High Risk Work). Upon successful completion of training, you
will be eligible to be assessed for either a Licence to Perform High Risk Work or a GTA Operator Qualification Card.
SLEWING MOBILE CRANE OPERATION (UP TO 20 TONNES)
C2 - Slewing Mobile Crane Operation Certificate
The scope of work for this certificate covers the operation of slewing mobile cranes with a capacity of 20 tonnes or less. A slewing mobile crane means:
a powered mobile crane incorporating a boom or jib that is capable of being slewed. It excludes a front-end loader, a backhoe, and excavator or similar
equipment when configured for crane operation. This certificate encompasses the requirements for the non-slewing mobile crane operation certificate
and the vehicle loading crane operation certificate. Assessment Instrument for C2 Slewing Cranes as well as Written Cranes
NON-SLEWING MOBILE CRANE OPERATION (OVER 3 TONNES)
CN - Non-Slewing Mobile Crane Operation Certificate
The scope of work for this certificate covers the operation of non slewing mobile cranes with a capacity over 3 tonnes. A non slewing mobile crane
means: a powered mobile crane incorporating a boom or jib that does not slew. It excludes a front-end loader, a backhoe, and excavator or similar
equipment when configured for crane operation. Assessment Instrument for CN Non Slewing Mobile Cranes as well as Written Cranes
VEHICLE LOADING CRANE (OVER 10 METRE TONNES)
CV - Vehicle Loading Crane Certificate
The scope of work for this certificate covers the operation of mobile vehicle loading cranes with a capacity greater than 10 metre tonnes. A vehicle
loading crane means: a truck mounted crane incorporating a boom or jib that slews. It excludes a front-end loader, a backhoe, and excavator or similar
equipment when configured for crane operation Assessment Instrument for CV Vehicle Loading Cranes as well as Written Cranes
Issue of Licence to Perform High Risk Work
All applicants to provide a passport size photo as well as a copy of their drivers licence on the day of assessment. On successful completion of the
training and assessment, the applicant/s submit the completed WorkSafe application including payment of $60 per person at a participating Post Office
for issue of their WorkSafe card. Allowance of approximately 4 weeks for issue, in the meantime, the applicant/s must keep their copy of the submitted
WorkSafe application with them at all times whilst working .
VEHICLE LOADING CRANE (UNDER 10 TONNES)
CV - Vehicle Loading Crane Certificate
The scope of work for this certificate covers the operation of vehicle loading cranes with a capacity 10 tonnes or less. A vehicle loading crane means: a
powered mobile crane incorporating a boom or jib that does not slew. It excludes a front-end loader, a backhoe, and excavator or similar equipment
when configured for crane operation. Assessment Instrument for CV Vehicle Loading Cranes
LGB - Bridge & Gantry Crane Operation Certificate - Pendant Crane (Groups only) - Victorian regulations
The scope of work for this certificate covers the operation of all pendant operated bridge and gantry cranes. A bridge crane means: a powered crane
comprising a bridge beam mounted at each end to a carriage, capable of travelling along elevated runways and having one or more hoisting
mechanisms arranged to traverse across the bridge. A gantry crane means: a powered crane comprising a bridge beam, supported at each end by
legs mounted on end carriages capable of travelling on supporting surfaces or deck levels, whether fixed or not and which has a crab with one or more
hoisting units arranged to travel across the bridge. Assessment Instrument for LGB Bridge & Gantry Crane
NOTE: The operation of a bridge or gantry crane which is controlled from a location remote to a permanent cabin/control station on the crane (such as
pendant control) and that has three or less powered operations does not require a certificate. (Hoist: raise & lower is one operation)
Issue of GTA Operator Qualfication Cards
On successful completion of assessment, GTA will issue the applicant with a wallet size photo ID card.
