Chainsaw


Introduction
This 8 hour course is for groups only and is aimed at any personnel required to use a 'hand held' chainsaw. Through a combination of classroom and
practical training, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to safely start, operate and maintain a hand held chainsaw.

FPICOT2204A - Maintain Chainsaws
FPICOT2206A - Cross-cut Materials with a hand held chainsaw
FPICOT2221A - Trim and cross-cut felled tress (non-commercial/non-production)
Course Content
At the completion of training, participants will be able to safely and effectively:
- Apply limbing, cross cutting and bore cutting techniques.
- Maintain and sharpen saw chains.
- Strip and assemble a chain saw.
- Clean and maintain a chain saw.
Emphasis is placed during the course on chain saw safety, including:
- Identifying and overcoming work hazards.
- Proper use of chain saw accessories and safety apparel.
- Proper job planning, organisation and work techniques.
- Adequate saw maintenance.
- Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
Prerequisites
Participants must be physically fit for manual work.
